Kate Bernot Named Director of North American Guild of Beer Writers

The North American Guild of Beer Writers is pleased to announce that Kate Bernot has been named the new Director of the guild, effective immediately.

Ms. Bernot has been a member for many years and publishes the NAGBW newsletter. She is a Missoula, Montana-based freelance journalist who has covered beer as a reporter and editor for 10 years across print, digital, and television. Her work appears regularly in Good Beer Hunting’s Sightlines and Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine. She has also written for The Washington Post, Imbibe, The New York Times, America’s Test Kitchen, and more. She is a BJCP Certified Beer Judge and was previously the beer editor at DRAFT Magazine.

In a unanimous vote, the Board of Directors of the North American Guild of Beer Writers elected Ms. Bernot to the position of Director, replacing Bryan Roth, who stepped down from the position earlier this year. Bernot will begin her time as director by working on by-laws and having regular discussions with members. One of her first projects she will be working on is new elections for board members and determining term limits for many elected positions in an effort to increase participation by our members.

Join us in welcoming her to the position and please offer her your support as she undertakes her duties in the new role. Anyone who’s interested in becoming more involved in the guild, this would be a great time to reach out and offer her your assistance.
